Light at the end of the tunnel

Usage

This idiom is used to express the context:

The end of a difficult situation or task, the solution to a difficult problem.

The end of a difficult period or job. 

Something which makes you believe that a difficult or unpleasant situation will end.

Something that gives you hope for the future after a long and difficult period.

Signs of ​improvement in a ​situation that has been ​bad for a ​long ​time, or ​signs that a ​long and ​difficult ​piece of ​work is ​almost ​finished.

For example

1. It's taken three years to effect this merger, but we're finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.
