A bitter pill to swallow

Meaning:

I don't like what 's happened but I will have to accept it. (nôm na là nuốt thuốc đắng)
when I said" It's a bitter pill to swallow" I really meant it's a situation that is unpleasant and difficult to accept.

For examples:

1. When John found out his wife's affair with his best friend, it was a bitter pill to swallow.
   Khi John phát hiện vợ anh ta ngoại tinh với người bạn thân nhất của mình, anh ta như nuốt thuốc đắng vào mình.
2. It was a bitter pill to swallow knowing that my older sister finished the race quicker than me.
   Điều đó như nuốt thuốc đắng khi biết rằng người chị lớn tuổi hơn tôi lại có về đích cuộc đua trước tôi.
3. My friend has booked the same flights as me for half a price - it's a bitter pill to swallow!
   Bạn tôi vừa mới book chuyến bay y chang như tôi nhưng chỉ với giá rẻ hơn tôi một nửa, điều đó như nuốt thuốc đắng.
